The first ever test of the Presidential Alert System is scheduled for Wednesday, October 3rd at 2:18pm.
The system allows the President to issue warnings in a crisis. For example: in the case of a missile launch or tsunami.
The government already uses emergency alerts for amber and weather alerts targeted to specific regions. This system will be nationwide and used only for advance warning of national crises.
