Interview: Susan Braun, CEO of the V Foundation

Interview: Susan Braun, CEO of the V Foundation

Listen as Susan Braun, CEO of the V Foundation, sits down with Madison and talks about all the good this organization does for cancer research.

“It’s all we do, we raise funds and we spend them on exceptional, outstanding cancer research. And with that, we really are aiming to cure this disease, put ourselves out of business, go out and do something else” said Susan.

On Jimmyv.org, the site explains, “The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded by ESPN and legendary basketball coach Jim Valvano with one goal in mind: to achieve Victory Over Cancer®.”

26 years of hard work makes up the V Foundation, having invested 225 million in cancer research, with 30 million being spent in 2018 alone! They look at all kinds of cancer and work all across the country, funding the best investigators in research.

Susan also talks about what the V Foundation currently has going on including teaming up with Applebee’s and Corona that will help raise funds.

Susan explains how amazed she is with the commitment she’s received from the Triangle, knowing that everyone, in some way, has been affected by this disease. Not only has this area been incredible, but all over the country many people have helped and given so much of their time to ensure that every donor’s dollar goes straight to cancer research. Susan says, “It’s great to be able to work at a place where there’s so much integrity, and do this mission that is so important to all of us.”
