Southern-Style Sweet Potato Pie

Southern-Style Sweet Potato Pie

This pie is creamy, lightly spiced, and just a touch sweet. It’s a Southern classic that makes holidays or cozy dinners feel extra special.

Ingredients

  • 1 refrigerated pie crust (9-inch)
  • 1 to 2/3 cups sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 2 large potatoes)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened

Instructions

1. Prepare the crust
Unroll the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie plate. Trim the edges and set aside.

2. Mix the filling
In a large bowl, stir together the mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. Add the milk, eggs, vanilla, and softened butter. Mix until smooth and well blended.

3. Fill the pie
Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust and smooth the top with a spatula.

4. Bake
Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted near the middle comes out clean.

5. Cool and serve
Let the pie cool completely before slicing. Serve at room temperature or chilled, with a dollop of whipped cream if you like.
