Father’s Day Love

Father’s Day Love

Gifts and Activities for Your Dad

Father’s Day is a holiday celebrated on the third Sunday in June for all fathers. The very first Father’s Day took place June 19, 1910 in Spokecan, Washington. Sonora Smart Dodd started the movement for Father’s Day because she wanted to honor her father, who was a Civil War veteran and a single parent. Though it began in 1910, the holiday took 62 years to get signed into being a nationwide holiday by President Nixon in 1972. So take some time this June to give your dad a hug and say thank you.

Cooking Together

Some fathers online have said that cooking together with their kids is one of the best things to go for Father’s Day and makes the day so much more special. It’s a good time to have a teaching moment, showing them how to prepare a meal or just to chat around the grill if they are older. just seeing how they are doing in their lives, maybe a good time to give advice if they need it.

Doing An Activity Together

It may seems minor to others but when you just do a small activity together it might be the best thing for your dad. Going on a walk, playing basketball, building a fence, drawing with chalk on the driveway, reading a book out loud. These little things will touch his heart.

Homemade Gifts

Macaroni art can go a long way! Something you made with your own hands show that you put your time and love into a gift makes it wonderful. Even if it is something like macaroni or thousand dollar project, its the heart and thought behind it that truly counts. One of the best gifts I ever gave to my dad was a picture frame with scrabble pieces spelling daddy/daughter down and across with a photo of us. My dad tells me every year that is one of his favorite gifts and he has it on his desk even to this day.

Just Asking for Help

Another way you can honor your Father is by asking for help. My Dad loves to know that I can always call on him for anything whether that is asking to help change a tire or just to rant about a bad day. He wants to be there to help. So just let your Father know that he is a help and ask for help. I promise, it will make his day!!
