Barbecued Chicken

Barbecued Chicken Recipe

Prep time: 20 minutes

Cooking time: 35 minutes

Serving size: 5 servings

Ingredients

  • 5 chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/3 cup white vinegar
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (ground is preferable)
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Coat a skillet or frying pan lightly with oil. Brown the chicken breasts over medium heat.
  3. Coat a 13×9-inch baking dish with oil. Once the chicken is browned, transfer the chicken to the baking dish.
  4. Add more cooking oil to the skillet. Add the onion and stir over medium heat until the onion is tender.
  5. Add the water, white vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, ground mustard, salt and pepper to the skillet.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.
  7. Pour the onion mixture over the chicken in the baking dish.
  8. Bake the barbecued chicken, uncovered, for approximately 40 to 45 minutes, or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked.
  9. Serve and enjoy.
