Hello, my name is Clara, and I’m so happy to meet you! I have to admit, I’m a bit shy at first—like a shy melody waiting for the perfect moment to shine. When I first arrived at the shelter, I was nervous and unsure about everything around me. But the kind staff here have helped me realize that this is a safe place, and I’ve started to come out of my shell little by little.
These days, when someone approaches my space, I gather up my courage and come right up to greet them with soft meows and gentle head bumps. I absolutely love a good petting session, and I’ve discovered that human attention is one of my favorite things in the whole world. I’m working on building my confidence every single day, and I’d love to do that in a calm, patient home where I can continue to blossom at my own pace.
How did I get here? Transferred from Wake County Animal Center; adopted & returned due to not being the right fit.

Lights, camera, adoption! Rusty here, a true celebrity in the making, ready to trade my supporting role as beloved family dog for a starring role in your home. I’ve spent seven years perfecting the art of being effortlessly charming: I’m reportedly house-trained, crate-trained, easygoing, and famously chill. My fans (everyone I meet) love my good-natured personality.
I’m mostly a couch potato, though I do enjoy a good sunbathing session on the porch and a brisk walk where, let’s be honest, I lead the way like the star I am. Fair warning: I don’t do thunderstorms, rain, or big gusts of wind, an artist has boundaries. I’m highly treat-motivated and loyal, so bring on the treats and the sunshine, and I’ll bring the sparkle. I am full grown at approximately 20 pounds. How did I get here? Surrendered when my owner could no longer care for me.
