The golden rule of human behavior = People rarely do better when they’re made to feel worse.
It’s time to see the error of our ways when it comes to motivating ourselves to our kids to even our coworkers. When someone is struggling, they already know that they’re failing, you don’t have to point that out. What they need is for you to believe in them and their capacity to bounce back. Next time try saying “I know that this was a hard moment for you but I’ve seen you handle hard things in the past so if you need something, reach out.”
Today’s Takeaway: “Be the person that puts fuel in the tank and stop criticizing people into changing because it will never work.”
