Contest Rules

96.1 WBBB-FM General Contest Rules

Revised as of July 1, 2025

Carolina Media Group, Inc. (the “Company”) may, from time to time, conduct various contests and sweepstakes in connection with radio station 96.1 WBBB-FM (each, a “Contest”).

By entering any Contest, entrants agree to be bound by these General Contest Rules and any applicable Specific Rules. Specific Rules provide details for each Contest, including:

  • Entry procedures

  • Eligibility restrictions

  • Prize descriptions, deadlines, and values

  • Winner selection methods

In the event of a conflict between General Contest Rules and Specific Rules, Specific Rules shall control. The General Contest Rules and Specific Rules together are referred to as the Contest Rules.

1. General

  • No purchase necessary. Buying a product or service will not increase your chances of winning.

  • Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

  • All Contests are governed by applicable federal, state, and local laws.

  • By entering, entrants agree to comply with the law and Contest Rules and abide by all decisions of the Company.

2. Eligibility

  • Open only to legal U.S. residents residing in North Carolina and/or Halifax, Mecklenburg, or Brunswick counties, Virginia, aged 18 or older.

  • Limit one winner per household and one winner per immediate family.

  • Employees and contractors of the Contest Parties and their immediate families are not eligible.

  • “Immediate families” include spouses, grandparents, parents, siblings, children, grandchildren (including in-laws, adopted, and step-family), and any other persons residing in the same household.

  • “Contest Parties” include:

    • Carolina Media Group, Inc.

    • Sponsors or co-sponsors of the Contest

    • Prize providers

    • Owners, parent entities, subsidiaries, and affiliates

  • Groups, clubs, or organizations cannot participate.

  • Proof of age, identity, and eligibility may be required.

  • Individuals who have won a Contest in the past 30 days are ineligible.

  • Company reserves the right to disqualify any entrant not following the Contest Rules.

3. How to Enter

  • Entry procedures and deadlines are defined in the Specific Rules.

  • All deadlines refer to the Eastern Time zone.

  • Entries must be received during the Contest entry period.

  • Entries become property of the Company and will not be returned.

  • The Company is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or damaged entries.

  • Automated, photocopied, or mechanically generated entries are void.

  • Electronic entries are deemed submitted by the authorized account holder.

Entry Materials:
By submitting materials, entrants:

  1. Own or control all rights to the Entry Materials

  2. Warrant materials do not violate rights of others

  3. Grant the Company a perpetual, nonexclusive, worldwide license to use the materials

  4. Do not include personally identifiable information for persons under 18

  5. Do not include offensive, illegal, or otherwise inappropriate content

Note: Dates and times may change due to technical issues, human error, emergencies, or events deemed more important than the timely execution of the Contest.

4. How to Win

  • Winner selection is defined in the Specific Rules.

  • Winners may be randomly selected or chosen based on skill, subjective judgment, or other methods.

  • Winners will be notified via phone, email, or mail.

  • Winners must respond within 30 days (or shorter if specified) to claim their prize.

  • Winners may be required to sign documentation including:

    • Government-issued ID

    • Affidavit of eligibility

    • IRS W-2 forms

    • Transfers of intellectual property rights, if applicable

  • Failure to submit required forms may result in disqualification.

5. Publicity Release

  • Entry constitutes consent for the Contest Parties to use entrants’:

    • Name, city, photographs, images, likeness

    • Biographical materials, voice, comments, ideas, and statements

  • Use is for publicity, promotion, merchandising, and advertising, in any media, in perpetuity, without additional compensation.

6. Prizes

  • If more prizes are claimed than advertised, random drawing determines winners.

  • Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.

  • Company may substitute prizes of equal or greater value.

  • Winners may claim prizes in person or receive delivery via mail.

  • The Company is not responsible for lost, stolen, delayed, or damaged prizes.

7. Odds of Winning

  • For randomly selected winners, odds depend on the number of eligible entries.

  • For winners selected by skill or judgment, there are no odds of winning.

8. Terms, Conditions & Limitation of Liability

  • Attempts to tamper with Contest administration may result in disqualification and potential civil or criminal action.

  • Entrants release and hold harmless the Contest Parties from:

    • Liability, claims, damages, or expenses arising from the Contest

    • Any property damage, personal injury, or death related to Contest participation

    • Tax liability for prizes

  • The Company is not responsible for typographical, printing, or technical errors.

  • All decisions of the Company are final.

9. Force Majeure / Internet Disclaimer

  • The Company may modify, suspend, or terminate the Contest for reasons including:

    • Computer virus, technical failures, or tampering

    • Acts of God, war, terrorism, disaster, strikes, civil disorder, or pandemic

    • Any other circumstances beyond the Company’s control

  • Any attempt to damage the website or undermine the Contest may result in legal action.

  • The Company makes no warranty regarding any prize.

10. Arbitration / Choice of Law

  • Disputes are governed by North Carolina law.

  • Arbitration in Wake County, NC, is the exclusive forum.

  • If arbitration is prohibited, courts in Wake County have exclusive jurisdiction.

  • Entrants agree to resolve disputes individually without class action.

  • Damages are limited to actual out-of-pocket costs; punitive, incidental, or consequential damages are waived.

11. List of Winners

  • To request a list of winners, mail a self-addressed stamped envelope within 60 days of the Contest completion to:

  • Include the name of the specific Contest.

12. Contest Sponsor

  • Carolina Media Group, Inc. / 96.1 WBBB-FM is the sole sponsor.

  • Contests involving social media platforms are not sponsored or endorsed by the platform.
