Saving Lives with Triangle Aquatic Center and the ‘Make-A-Splash’ Program

Saving Lives with Triangle Aquatic Center and the ‘Make-A-Splash’ Program

Did you know 10 people drown each day in the United States? One life is too many, so it’s time to take action!

Triangle Aquatic Center is saving lives by partnering with the USA Swimming Foundation “Make-A-Splash”.

TAC explains, “Created by the USA Swimming Foundation, Make-a-Splash’s initiative is to save children’s lives through swim lessons. Through this program, eligible swimmers in the Triangle can register for swim lessons at a free or reduced rate.”

Don’t wait, because these swim lessons are important! Did you know…

  • 79% of children in households with incomes less than $50,000 have little-to-no swimming ability.
  • In a recent report published by Wake County Human Services, there has been an average of 5.2 drowning cases per year in Wake County between 2012 and 2018.
  • Research shows 64% of African-American, 45% of Hispanic/Latino, and 40% of Caucasian children have little to no swimming ability.
  • Formal swimming lessons reduces the likelihood of childhood drowning by 88%.

Triangle Aquatic Center is accepting Make-a-Splash registrations and enrollments! Learn more via TriangleAquatics.org.
