Kitty Learns about Local Fundraiser that Fights against Opiate Epidemic

Listen in as Kitty interviews Chef Blake Gotliffe, owner of Under the Oak Catering and creator of the annual Roots for Reece Chef’s Picnic – a fundraiser that aids in the fight against the opiate epidemic. Roots for Reece is held is memory Blake’s best friend, Reece Byrd, who passed away in 2017 from an opiate overdose. The 6th Annual Roots for Reece fundraiser will be held on Sunday, June 9th, from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Haven Farm in Knightdale, NC. The event features small plates, craft cocktails, beer, mocktails, wine, a silent auction, kids’ crafts, and live music. All proceeds from the event will benefit the NC Harm Reduction Coalition, a local non-profit that aids in the distribution of Narcan – which can potentially save the life of someone experiencing and opioid emergency.  Click here to purchase a ticket to the event.
